Day 2
Today’s Takeaway: Always remain humble.
Yesterday night I fell down the rabbit hole into an old box of pictures.
We’re talking full-on late 90s, high school Liz, right up until last month. (Yes, I still have ACTUAL photographs. Shocking, I know.)
I haven’t looked at that box in at least 5 years and even then I didn’t real looook. Underneath the mess of photographs was a folder full of different, random pictures from my “5 mins of fame.”
Okay, I wasn’t the famous one, but my job made me feel like I was.
Once upon a time I was an assistant to Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas and their two kids. And I’m not going to lie, it was EVERYTHING you think it would be. Amazing vacations, a FREE Manhattan apt., mingling with iconic people, dinners in the best restaurants in the world (I’m a total foodie!). Honestly, now, over a decade later, it still feels like a dream.
But there was 1 very real lesson I carried with me from that experience…
Always remain humble.
No matter how beautiful they were, how much money they had, or influence they could command, they always treated everyone like someone. They never flaunted their wealth, or acted above anyone. From wait staff to Hollywood royalty their demeanor remained the same, genuine and engaged.
THAT was the ultimate lesson.
It seems like common sense right? Like “Come on Liz, be kind…duh?”
Well, sometimes people get swept up in their success and what used to be common sense becomes an after thought. Seeing those pictures was a reminder for me. I thought someone out there might need the reminder too. ❤️
(Sidebar: There was one other way the Douglas’s humbled me. Try going on vacation and having to be in a bathing suit next to Catherine Zeta-Jones. 🫠)
(R.I.P Splash Mountain! Thanks for the memories. ❤️)
